English/Language Arts Homework

Paragraph of the Week
Directions

At the beginning of each week, you will receive a writing topic. Throughout the week you are going to use this topic to write a well organized paragraph.

Each night you must complete the following:

Monday: Read the topic and brainstorm ideas.

Tuesday: Write a first draft on bottom half of the topic page.

Wednesday: Revise and edit first draft.

Thursday: Write a final draft IN PEN on a clean sheet of lined notebook paper OR you MAY TYPE IT .
*Both the first draft and final draft are due at the end of the week.

Each paragraph will be scored according to a rubric that your student will have and YOU have access to through this website (see writing rubrics tab at top of page.)

Math Homework will be assigned daily.

Math Homework

Directions

Each day a set of problems will come home.  They will need to be completed each night and returned to school the next day.  Each assignment will consist of standard problems as well as story problems.  Sometimes these will come from the text workbook and other times they will be from alternate sources.  The goal is to improve problem solving techniques and apply them to real world situations.

Homework Expectation

Homework:

  • must be completed on time
  • in math must show all work
  • must be done in pencil
  • final draft paragraphs for writing must be done in pen
  • assignments must be reflective of the student's neatest work

A daily record will be kept of completed math homework.  A completed assignment does NOT mean that every problem is done correctly or that every problem is completed.  A completed  math assignment is one where the majority of the problems are completed and ALL OF THE PROBLEMS SHOW AN ATTEMPT AT A SOLUTION

**Occasionally additional homework will be assigned.  It may include but is not limited to: incomplete classwork, revisions of writing assignments, science and/or social studies activity pages, and assigned projects.
